Creating Your Own Good Luck

Luck is a funny word. According to Webster’s, luck is a force that brings good fortune or adversity. Much like the energy of money, luck is an energy that has both positive and negative connotations. Whether it’s good luck or bad luck that someone is experiencing, there is a perceived element of chance that happens beyond one’s control. And yet by closly observing nature, we begin to realize that very little in the Universe is left to chance. There is a rhythmic orchestration in nature where everything is interconnected and there is this beautiful dance of polarities of energy, cycles of ebb and flow, where balance gets restored.

Often times as humans, we may begin to think that with our scientific and technological advances we are beyond Nature’s universal laws. We have human bodies that are part of this natural cycle. We can sometimes suspend or even bend some laws of nature, many times through great exertion or effort. Ultimately we are still subject to nature’s laws and the Universe restores balance, sometimes in shocking and violent ways. A friend of mine who was a pilot for 747s shared this story with me that really changed the way I looked at happenstance. She said that every time a crew was sent out to a plane crash site to determine the cause, they found that is was never just one decision that caused the accident but an entire series of decisions. I think the same can be said for luck. It’s not just one decision or action we take, but the series of decisions we make and actions we take over time that determines whether we are creating good or back luck.

Luck is one of those natural energies we can harness and use to our benefit or detriment. It’s not surprising that people who believe in their good luck and fortune are more optimistic and continue to create more good luck for themselves. And those who believe that they have a dark cloud of bad luck following them seem to attract more of the same. In business, there are cycles of expansion and contraction and we have all sorts of names for them. In the financial markets they call them bull and bear markets. Economists may refer to them as booms and busts. What’s interesting about each of these cycles is, how you perceive each phase in the cycle determines how you navigate that phase of the cycle. There are people who have created fortunes in so called “bad markets” and people who have lost fortunes in “good markets.” Your perceptions and feelings will influence the type of experience you will have in that phase. Where you choose to focus your attention will determine the type of luck you are cultivating. By becoming clear about what you want to create for your business and putting your focus towards creating it, it’s amazing how much great luck you can attract.

With love, gratitude and prosperity blessings,

NAWBO Welcomes Disney Institute to Albuquerque on April 7th 2010

It doesn’t take any training to recognize that the world’s economy has taken a significant downturn. It does take effective and proven professional development training to guide impacted organizations back to the summit.

The National Association of Women Business Owners Northern New Mexico Chapter is proud to partner with The University of New Mexico, Division of Continuing Education to bring Disney’s Approach to Business Excellence program, presented by the world renowned Disney Institute, to the Albuquerque area on April 7, 2010.

A one-day local workshop, Disney’s Approach to Business Excellence program is a rare and affordable opportunity to learn best business practices from Disney insiders, and discover ways to easily and immediately adapt and apply those best practices to pick up the pace in these slow economic times.

Organizations from across the nation have learned proven philosophies and implemented effective processes to reap the rewards of improvements in leadership, management, service, and brand loyalty.

We invite your team to join thousands of professionals and discover Disney business secrets to …

  • Strengthening loyalty and retaining valuable customers
  • Expanding their brand and generating greater profits
  • Building team involvement and ownership
  • Creating a service culture and motivating employees
  • Maintaining a competitive edge in a sluggish economy

Disney’s Approach to Business Excellence Program is…

  • Relevant: Impacts critical drivers of success in a slow economy
  • Affordable: Priced to serve more people under limited budgets
  • Actionable: Easy to implement upon return to the office
  • Inspirational: Generates team excitement and momentum
  • Short: Takes only one day away from the office
  • Local: No travel expenses

Professional development doesn’t cost—it pays. It pays by creating a framework of focused energy in a vacuum of uncertainty. It pays by helping an organization gain share in a slow economy. It pays because it has been proven to strengthen employee morale and retention, which will be critical to emerge from tough times.

IMPORTANT: Please use promotional code NBOMEE to receive $50 OFF PER GUEST when registering. Additional group discounts are available.
